Vale Encantado
A Ribeira do Seixal ou Ribeira de Santo Antão tem a sua madre perto da zona dos Estanquinhos, no Paúl da Serra. À medida que a ribeira faz o seu percurso, esta recebe ao longo do percurso muitos afluentes, percorre todo o vale do Chão da Ribeira e vem desaguar à povoação do Seixal. A cache situa-se numa das intersecções do vale da Ribeira do Seixal com a levada da Ribeira do Seixal a uma altitude de cerca de 940 metros.
The Ribeira do Seixal or Ribeira de Santo Antão has his nascent near Estanquinhos at Paul da Serra. As the stream makes its journey, it has along the way many tributaries, it flows through the Chão da Ribeira valley and comes to estuary at the village of Seixal. The cache is located in one of the intersections of the Ribeira Seixal valley with the Levada da Ribeira Seixal at an altitude of about 940 meters.
O trajecto recomendado de ida e volta para encontrar esta cache é começar na zona do Rabaçal, descer num desvio da Levada das 25 Fontes para a Levada da Rocha Vermelha. Tomando o percurso à direita, na direcção contrária à corrente da levada, irá chegar a uma ponte em que o túnel da Ribeira do Seixal segue em frente, à esquerda continua a Levada da Rocha Vermelha.
The recommended route, to and from the cache, is to begin at Rabaçal, descending in a path from the 25 Fontes Levada to the Levada da Rocha Vermelha. Take the path to the right, in the opposite direction of the water current. You will reach a bridge where the levada da Ribeira Seixal tunnel moves on and to the left the Levada da Rocha Vermelha continues on.
O túnel tem uma distância de 2 km e a sua travessia faz-se em 35 minutos. Leve calçado apropriado para percurso de montanha. Para fazer a travessia em segurança é necessário o uso de uma lanterna. Aconselha-se também o uso de um impermeável, pois existem zonas do túnel em que a água jorra abundantemente da rocha.
The tunnel is 2 km long and it takes 35 minutes to cross. Appropriate footwear for mountain route is necessary. To safely cross it, it's necessary to use a torchlight. It is also advisable to use a raincoat because there are zones of the tunnel in which water flows abundantly from the rock.
AVISO: A levada da ribeira do Seixal continua o seu trajecto noutro túnel. A partir deste, a dificuldade de terreno aumenta para 4,5. Não é recomendado a pessoas com vertigens, pois existem partes do percurso sem protecção em zona de falésia, havendo somente um cabo de aço preso na rocha. Continuando, há hipótese de descer para o Chão da Ribeira pela vereda do Barbinhas (~ 5 Km), ou subir para a levada do Norte, seguindo a direcção da corrente até à Encumeada (~17 Km).
WARNING: The ribeira do Seixal levada continues through another tunnel. From here on, the terrain difficulty increases to 4.5. It’s not recommended for persons with vertigo. The path has exposed cliffs with no protection, with nothing more than a steel cable attached the rock to hold on. Following the levada, you can reach Chão da Ribeira going down the vereda do Barbinhas (~ 5 Km), or going up a path that takes you to the levada do Norte. Follow the path to the left, in the same direction of the water current until you reach Encumeada (~17 Km).
