We are learning about dinosaurs in day camp, so I thought I should place some geocaches to share what I am learning. There are four caches in my Dino Alley series, but they are all transitionals so you can do them in any order.
These are supposed to be fun and educational, but not too hard. I hope you like them.
Triceratops is a genus of herbivorous dinosaur that lived during the Late Cretaceous Period, around 68 to 65.5 million years ago in what is now North America. It was one of the last non-avian dinosaurs to appear before the Cretaceous–Paleogene extinction event. The term Triceratops, literally means "three-horned face".
Bearing a large bony frill and three horns on its large four-legged body, and conjuring similarities with the modern rhinoceros, Triceratops is one of the most recognizable of all dinosaurs and the best known ceratopsid. It shared the landscape with and was preyed upon by the fearsomeTyrannosaurus.
Triceratops has been documented by numerous remains collected since the genus was first described in 1889, including at least one complete individual skeleton. Forty-seven complete or partial skulls were discovered in the decade 2000–2010.Specimens representing life stages from hatchling to adult have been found.
The cache is a park and grab. Parking is available very close to the cache, on the shoulder or roadside. Please return it to it's original spot. No room for trades and BYOP. Good luck and happy caching
