[LV] Mūsdienu Kurzemes teritoriju senatnē apdzīvoja kurši – viena no baltu tautu ciltīm. Kuršiem, tāpat kā visām senlatviešu tautām, svētnīcas nesaistījās ar kādu noslēgtu telpu, kulta vietas bija daba – svētie meži, birzis, koki, kalni ūdeņi un akmeņi, kam tika piedēvētas pārdabiskas spējas. Neraugoties uz kristīgo ticību, kas Kurzemes teritorijā sākta ieviest jau 13. gs., daudzas pagāniskās tradīcijas un dabas godināšana ir saglabājusies līdz pat mūsdienām. Par Ezerskolas Upurakmeni ir saglabājušies nostāsti, ka pie akmens it kā bijusi svētbirzs. Domājams, ka senos laikos te ir bijusi sena kulta vieta. Mūsdienās cilvēki uz akmens bieži ziedo naudu, kas ir mūsu senču ziedošanas tradīciju turpinājums. [ENG] The modern territory of Kurzeme used to be inhabited by the Curonians – one of the Baltic tribes. For the Curonians, just like for all ancient Latvian tribes, shrines were not associated with some confined space; cult sites were rather the nature itself – sacred woods, groves, trees, hills, water, and stones that were credited with supernatural power. In spite of Christianity that was introduced in the territory of Kurzeme already in the 13th century, many pagan traditions and nature worshipping have preserved until nowadays. There are tales stating that at the stone there used to be a holy grove.. Nowadays people often sacrifice money on the stone that is a continuation of our ancestors’ traditions.
