[LV] Ir nostāsts, ka tas ir sens upurkalns. Uz dienvidiem no šī kalna atrodas mazāks, īpatnējas formas uzkalniņš – t.s. Dāvida kalniņš, kas arī, iespējams, saistīts ar senām kulta tradīcijām. Pēc nostāsta, netālu atradusies arī Sapņu birzs, kurā zīlnieki senatnē skaidrojuši sapņus. Mūsdienās Vanagkalnā ir uzturētas dzīvas senču tradīcijas, svinot tur tradicionālos gadskārtu svētkus – Mārtiņus, Miķeļus, Ziemassvētkus, Lieldienas un Jāņus.

10.06.2016. novācot divus citus konteinerus un izliekot vienīgo īsto, satikām zemes īpašnieku. Vīrs stāstīja, ka patiesībā kalna nosaukums ir Krīvu kalns, kā tas rakstīts uz ceļa norādes pie Mundigciema. Par kalna zīmīgo iekārtojumu saimnieks rūpējas jau pārdesmit gadus.

[ENG] There is a tale that it is an ancient sacrificial hill. South of the hill, there is a smaller hill of a peculiar form — the so-called David's Hillock (Dāvida kalniņš), which also, probably, is related to ancient cult traditions. According to tales, nearby there used to be the Dreams' Grove (Sapņu birzs) where fortune tellers explained dreams in ancient times. Nowadays on the Vanagkalns Hill, ancestors’ traditions are still kept alive by celebrating traditional annual festivals there – Mārtiņi Festival, Miķeļi Festival, Christmas, Easter, and Jāņi (summer solstice celebration).
