Geocache Description:

This cache is placed near the first beacon post of the Great Wall of China, where ancient China ended and where the West began!

Having moved to China to teach English, I find there are no geocaches in the area at all!  So, having cached with my buddy back home, the time has finally come to set up my own account, and start placing some caches!  Sadly I'll have to wait until I go on holiday or visiting somewhere else to log one for myself, but in the meantime I hope this cache helps some people discover this very important historical site.

The cache itself is not on the beacon (which is fenced off in any case), but on the way down to the "encampment" area, near some statues of men on camels.  This area is well worth a visit, as there's a great rope bridge across a canyon, and there are some great views.
