Du prieuré Saint Nicolas, dépendance de Perrecy les forges, restent 3 nefs et la façade, construites au milieu du XIIe siècle.
Le chœur actuel remplace un ensemble qui fut plus important, mais démoli en même temps que le clocher.
L'ancienne église paroissiale et la chapelle du château ont également disparu.
L'église Saint Nicolas date du 12ème siècle et c'est alors celle du prieuré fondé par les bénédictins de l'abbaye de Fleury de saint Benoit sur Loire. Elle devient paroissiale en 1740 et prend le vocable de l'ancienne église laissée à l'abandon: Saint Symphorien.
L'édifice a été construit en deux étapes. D'abord le choeur vouté en plein cintre sur lequel reposait la coupole du clocher, ensuite les nefs et la grande façade datées de la fin du 12ème.
Abandonnée par les moines, l'église, au milieu du 18ème siècle, "menace ruine prochaine". Ce n'est qu'à partir de 1850 que la commune entreprend des travaux et notamment la construction d'un nouveau choeur, d'un clocher et d'une sacristie qui donnent à l'église son visage actuel.
Elle se dresse fièrement sur l'une des deux buttes entre lesquelles fut bâti le village.

It stands proudly on one of the two hills between which the village was built.
