Kola #7: Arawana Log Roll Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

kola cachers: Went to check on the cache and it was gone. And I mean GONE. The cache, the host,…all neatly cleaned up. The neighbouring home owner must have thought it was an eyesore and took it out. Oh well, it was really starting to show its age. We may place a new cache here in the future but it will have a new name.

Geocache Description:

The cache is hidden on the site of the old Arawana School which was established in 1897. The school closed in 1965 and the remaining students went to Virden, Elkhorn and Kola. For several years the one room school building was used for meetings and showers by the Arawana Ladies Club but was later abandoned and demolished. A cairn now sits at the site commemorating the school and the old post office.

Finding the cache location will be easy, but retrieving it will be a little more difficult. No tools or excessive force will be required but you will have to be creative! Note the no trespassing sign refers to the gravel pile on the lot, and not to the area around the cairn. Park on the grass in front of the cairn, not on the gravel lot by the pile.
