Coswig liegt an den Bahnstrecken Berlin–Dresden und Leipzig–Dresden. Von Letzterer zweigt im Stadtgebiet die Bahnstrecke Borsdorf–Coswig ab, die über Meißen-Triebischtal verläuft. Coswig ist außerdem als Endpunkt der S-Bahn-Strecke Pirna–Coswig vorgesehen.
