Geocache Description:

How many Sandhill Cranes can you spot at Moss Park?

This geocache has been approved by Orange County Parks and Recreation Division.  The Sandhill Crane is a tall wading bird with long legs and a long neck. They have gray bodies and a distinctive bald red spot at the top of their head. These birds are omnivores, meaning that they eat both animal and plant foods. Sandhill cranes forage for seeds, berries and roots, as well as insects and earthworms, but they may approach you for a handout!  Cranes are best enjoyed from a distance and should never be fed.

Sandhill Cranes are typically seen in small groups or pairs. In November and December, the population of Sandhill Cranes nearly doubles because of the cranes that migrate south for the winter.

Admission to Moss Park is $3 per vehicle for 1-2 ppl and $5 for 3-8 ppl.  Enjoy playgrounds, hiking trails, a swimming area and wildlife viewing during your visit!  The park is open from 8 am-6 pm/winter; 8 am-8 pm/ summer.
