Geocache Description:

Gaujas-Daugavas ūdensceļš bija koku pludināšanai izveidota ūdensceļu sistēma, kas savienoja Gauju un Daugavu. Vidzemes ūdensceļu uzlabošanas sabiedrība izstrādāja un realizēja Gaujas-Daugavas ūdensceļa projektu no 1899.gada līdz 1903.gadam. Pirmais tika izbūvēts 3 km garais Gaujas-Baltezera kanāls, kas sākās pie bijušās Remberģu muižas (tagad Strautkalnu ciemats) pie Gaujas un beidzās pie bijušās Alderu muižas Mazajā Baltezerā.

Tā kā Gaujas ūdenslīmenis kanāla atdalīšanās vietā bija par 2-6 m augstāks nekā Baltezeros, ūdens teci regulēja ar slūžām. Pie Gaujas bija ierīkotas vārtveida slūžas, bet pie ieejas Mazajā Baltezerā "Stoneja" sistēmas slūžas.

20.gs. 60.gados koku pludināšana tika pārtraukta un slūžas laika gaitā sagruva
