To complete this Challenge you need to collect 12 pairs of animals to load onto your geocaching ark. How? Collect animals by finding TWO caches that have the same animal listed in their title. For instance, you may find
GCY66R "Grizzle Lake," and
GCXJCX "Grizzly Den," which would earn you a pair of grizzlies to take onto the ark. Any cache type counts. Got it?
Here are the rules:
1. You must have at least 12 different pairs of animals! You can use the same animals more than once, but you must have a different name for them. For instance, your ark can only have one pair of "birds," but it could also have herons, ducks, geese, eagles, falcons or other bird names.
1a. If a cache has two animals in the title, you may only count one. For instance if the caches is named "Frog and Toad's Wild Ride," you may only collect a frog or a toad. The goal is to have 24 separate caches to make up your bookmark list.
2. Pairs must match exactly. One cache that has the word "monkey" in the title, and one that has "chimpanzee," do not count as a pair! You need two "monkeys" or two "chimpanzees." Dogs ≠ puppies, ponies ≠ horses, etc.
2a. Plurals are exempt from this. One cache with "frog," and another with "frogs" earns you a pair of frogs.
2b. Shortened names are exempt from this. One cache with "hippopotamus," and another with "hippo" earn you a pair of hippos.
3. Plurals do not count as separate animals. You may not earn animals from two caches that contain the word "mice," and then also claim animals from two caches that contain the word "mouse."
4. Animals within words also count. A "scarecrow" earns you a "crow," and "escape" earns you an "ape." Animals are wiley! They might hide anywhere.
5. Animals must come from different caches. If you fond a cache titled "A Bat At Bat" you will still need a second cache containing the word "bat" in order to claim that animal.
6. Spelling counts. It's fine if Noah collects two "dawgs," but he can't collect one "dog" and one "dawg" and call it a pair.
7. Previous finds count. You may already have enough animals available to fill your ark!
8. When you log your find you must list in your log all the animals you have collected for your ark.
9. You must be able to verify you have found all the animal pairs you need. This can be accomplished either with a bookmark list, or a list of Names and GC numbers in your log. Unverifiable lists of animals might get washed away in the coming flood....
As of Summer 2013 my ark contains bugs, birds, rabbits, bears, dinosaurs, cats, monkeys, spiders, horses, chihuahuas, dolphins, squirrels, and goats.
Have fun filling your ark... but remember, there are storm clouds on the horizon.
