Geocache Description:

This is part of the Zelda Sayre Fitzgerald Geocache series. The various geocaches mark landmarks in Montgomery associated with Zelda Fitzgerald, who was born in Montgomery in 1900 and lived here until she married F. Scott Fitzgerald in 1920.

The location of this geocache is the building which was originally Holy Comforter Episcopal Church where Zelda Sayre Fitzgerald was baptized and attended church with her family growing up in the early 1900’s. Zelda’s mother, Minnie Sayre, who had entertained dreams of being a stage actress as a young woman, played the organ at Holy Comforter and sang in the choir. The church was located a short distance from the Sayre family residence at 6 Pleasant Avenue near the corner of Pleasant Avenue and Mildred Street.

Holy Comforter moved to its current location at 2911 Woodley Road in 1960.

This building currently serves as the Jubilee Community Center. Thanks to the efforts of the JCC board, the building has been beautifully restored to its former glory in recent years, so it looks much the way it did when Zelda was baptized there over a hundred years ago.

You are looking for a small container with a few collectibles. Feel free to leave a little something!
