Geocache Description:

You are looking for a very tiny capsule so please BYOP and make sure it is replaced well into it's hiding place.

The parish church of Pendoylan is dedicated to St Cadoc, a 6th century Celtic saint. Although the foundations of the church are Norman, the main structure of the church dates from 14th century. The external door with pointed archway beneath the east window of the chancel leads to the Hensol burial vault which was constructed in 1870 by Rowland Fothergill of Hensol Castle for the benefit of himself and his family. Its construction resulted, so tradition says, in the collapse of one of the chancel walls. The east wall of the chancel is now strengthened by two clasping buttresses. The tower contains six bells. The first three bells were originally presented to the church in the 17th century by Judge David Jenkins, a staunch supporter of King Charles 1, as a thanks offering for his safe return from The Tower of London where he had been imprisoned during the Cromwellian period. In the 19th century Pendoylan church had close links with Cowbridge Grammar School since the vicar, the Reverend Dr. William Williams, was also the headmaster at the school. “If anybody would like to expand to this series please do, I would just ask that you could let Sadexploration know first so he can keep track of the Church numbers and names to avoid duplication. There is also a Church Micro Stats & Information page found via the Bookmark list”
