Church Micro 3859 ... Lincoln-St Giles Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

Tentmantent: Came today to check on this one but it's gone again. It took me awhile before the coast was clear because there were hundreds of children, mostly wearing home-made Easter bonnets, all filing into the church for an Easter service. Lovely sight!

Sorry, this location clearly isn't working so I'm going to archive it. I plan to replace it with a multi, using a safer hiding place but I'm away for a few weeks so it won't be until May at the earliest.

If anyone else wants to place one in the meantime don't forget to sue the same CM number as this one and let Sadex know. Oh, and good luck finding somewhere safe to hide a cache!

Geocache Description:

Another in the growing and increasingly popular Church Micro series. Magnetic nano.

The church was originally built in 1724 by Lincoln City Council for its own civic services. It was then by the Guildhall (Stonebow) in the city centre and was called St Peter at Arches. It had a fine organ (enlarged by the Cathedral organ builder, Father Willis, in the 19th Century) and 8 bells in 1728.

In the early 20th Century it was in the way of urban development and due to be demolished. Instead it was literally moved uphill stone by stone along with its with its organ, bells and furnishings, all, to serve the new St. Giles estate. Later its fine church halls were built to serve the community.

If anybody would like to expand to this series please do, I would just ask that you could let Sadexploration know first so he can keep track of the Church numbers and names to avoid duplication. There is also a Church Micro Stats & Information page found via the Bookmark list.
