Located not too far from the Serpent Lake trailhead on the backside of the Pecos Wilderness.
Hid this cache with my 3-year old son and two friends. You can access this cache by way of NM Highway 518 about 9 miles southeast of Sipapu. Turn south on forest road 161 and travel about 4.1 miles to the parking lot for the Serpent Lake trailhead. This place is in a beautifully forested area with a creek running through it. This is essentially the back side of the Pecos Wilderness. Please be mindfull of fire hazards and restrictions. The cache is hidden within a couple hundred yards of the trail head so the hike is extremely easy. The trail continues on to Serpent Lake and eventually the High-Line Ridge of the Pecos Wilderness. My plan is to hide a second cache higher up the trail for those willing to hike a bit farther. There are some fun treasures including rock and mineral identifying equipment incase anyone wants to try their luck identifying some of their finds.
