This previously archived cache has been reintroduce for Turtlefest 2013. We would like to acknowledge the hard word and time committed by Brendah for putting out the original Map Turtle cache

Map Turtle (Graptemys geographica)
The map turtle reaches lengths of 10 - 25 cm. Its a carapace (shell) is brown with many yellowish lines resembling contour lines on a map. The posterior edges of the carapace are notched. Its head, neck and legs have parallel yellow lines and a yellow, triangular shaped spot found behind each eye.
The map turtle lives in slow moving rivers, ponds and marshes with soft bottoms and half submerged logs for basking in the sun.
This turtle is locally common in southern Ontario.
