D’une longueur d’environ 450 mètres, elle marque l'entrée tribord du port de Calais et la séparation entre l'espace portuaire et la plage.
Le feu de la jetée de l'Ouest est situé sur l'extrémité de la jetée, il remplace un feu de port allumé en 1772 sur le Fort Rouge. Le premier phare y fut allumé en 1842. Le feu actuel date de 1959, il est isophase (la durée d'allumage est la même que celle d'extinction) de couleur verte.
La jetée a bénéficié d'une rénovation complète en 2009. Il s'agit d'un lieu de rencontre entre touristes, promeneurs et pêcheurs.
Attention la cache se situe sous la jetée; le sol est glissant. L'accès se fait à marée basse.
With a length of about 450 meters, it marks the starboard port of Calais and the separation between the port area and the beach entrance.
The fire of the West Pier is located on the end of the pier, it replaces a fire lit in 1772 port on the Red Fort. The first lighthouse was lit there in 1842. The current fire in 1959, it is isophase (the spark duration is the same as extinction) green.
The pier has undergone a complete renovation in 2009. It is a meeting place for tourists and walkers fishermen.
Warning cache is located under the pier, the ground is slippery. Access is at low tide.
