Geocache Description:

This cache will bring you to one of the more interesting remnants of the Getty Square Branch of New York and Putnam Railroad.

This branch was designed as a double track rapid transit shuttle route between 155th St. in Manhattan and Getty Square in Yonkers. The 155th St. stop was actually in the Bronx, with a bridge across the Harlem River to connect passengers with the Manhattan elevated subway. The Getty Square trains ran concurrent with the rest of the trains on the Putnam branch until the Getty Square Branch split off just north of the Van Cortlandt Park Station.
