En face du nouvel hôtel de ville sans âme, l’ancien, le magnifique, est vraiment un endroit a visiter et c’est en entrée libre.
In front of the new city hall without soul, the former, the magnificent hotel Groslot, is really a place to be visited and is in free entrance.
Un peu d’histoire :
Jacques Groslot, bailli de la ville, fit construire à la Renaissance cette maison qui, après la Révolution, devint l'Hôtel de Ville.
Pour mieux répondre à ses nouvelles fonctions, l'hôtel fit alors l'objet de profonds remaniements, notamment l'ajout de deux ailes. La statue de Jeanne d'Arc qui orne son perron date, quant à elle, du milieu du XIXe siècle. Elle est l'œuvre de la princesse Marie d'Orléans.
A little of history:
Jacques Groslot, the town's bailiff, had this house built in the Renaissance which, after the Revolution became the Hôtel de Ville (Town Hall) in order to better suit the requirements of its new function, the building underwent major changes, particularly the addition of two wings. The statue of Joan of Arc, which decorates its steps, dates from the middle of the 19th century. It is the work of Princess Marie of Orléans.
