Geocache Description:

"100 caches in 100 parks to celebrate 100 years"

2013 is the 100th anniversary of Washington State Parks, and as part of the celebration, WSGA and Washington State Parks are cohosting the Washington State Parks Centennial GeoTour. [NOTE: The link will not be active prior to June 07]. This GeoTour is a statewide challenge featuring 100 new caches placed on 100 State Park properties across the state, with a commemorative geocoin for finding 50 caches (silver coin) and 100 caches (gold coin).

The GeoTour launches on June 7. Find out more detailed information at this kickoff event, plus pick up your passport and see the prize coin. The cache series is expected to continue for 2-3 years, or until all coins are distributed, whichever comes first.

Visit Washington state parks for free on June 8 & 9 in recognition of National Get Outdoors Day. The Discover Pass is not required to visit state parks on free days (but you will need one later to find GeoTour caches).

Other free days at state parks:
The State Parks free days for 2013 are:
June 8 - 9: National Get Outdoors Day and WDFW Free Fishing weekend
Aug. 4: Peak summer season free day
Sept. 28: National Public Lands Day
Nov. 9 - 11: Veteran’s Day weekend
Please note: A Discover Pass is still required to access lands managed by the Washington State Department of Natural Resources and the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife during State Parks free days. For more information, visit www.discoverpass.wa.gov.
