Geocache Description:

My Life at Hassler Sanitarium

Most hikers don't realize that this area was once the home of a well-known sanitarium. That is why the trail is called, "Hassler."

The picture above is an actual photograph of the large facility as it existed decades ago.  I was a patient here many, many years ago, when I was still a young man--but terribly ill. I was in Room 314--in one of the large buildings on the right side. It was many years before I regained use of my faculties, and I owe it all to Hassler.

There aren't many buildings left to see.  Indeed, many of my memories have likewise faded, but I still recall the kindness of the doctors and nurses. I have such good memories of Dr. Heinrich Schmidt, and the charming nurse, Miss Eva Johnson.

It was right here where Miss Johnson would wheel me out on sunny days. It was on one of those days that I decided to place a small artifact--a token to my days at the sanitarium. It seemed like I was the only one who could see the little nano. I laughed everytime the nurse wheeled me by the little blinky. Nobody knew what I was laughing at, but I knew that someday, someone else would also be able to see it.

I am too old and infirm to look for this token from the past. Is it still here?
