161 Esplanade (corner Marlborough
Street) - This is an extremely interesting
building of western red cedar, which
came from Canada in kit form around
1912. It was built as a holiday home
for Dr Charles Todd, Secretary of the South
Australian Medical Board. Charles Todd was the
son of Sir Charles Todd, famous for the Overland
Telegraph. The Todd River in the Northern Territory
is named after Sir Charles, and Alice Springs is
named after his wife.
There is a plaque on the path in front of the house.
Happy Hunting.
