Geocache Description:

The next in our Australia series....

Quensland takes up about one-fifth of the area of Australia. Along its eastern coastline are fertile plains and river valleys which may extend up to 200 km inland. The Great Dividing Range borders these lowlands, stretching from Cape York south to the grasslands of the Barkly Tableland. The south-west is plain-land, drainedby a network of rivers, which after heavy rain flood the Channel Country as they flow towards Lake Eyre.

On the Coat of Arms, a Red Deer, representing the Old World, and a Brolga, representing nativeborn Queeslanders, support a shield. On it are a sheaf of wheat, the heads of a bull and a ram, and a column of gold rising from a heap of quartz. The badge above shows allegiance to the Queen and two stalks of sugar. The motto is Audax at Fidelis, meaning "Bold but faithful".
This Coat of Arms, granted in 1893, is the oldest in Australia.
