Geocache Description:

An easy Multi-Cache which is combined with a short hiking tour on the beautiful farm Rooiklip in Namibia.

Rooiklip is a farm situated at the foot of the Gamsberg mountain. It is located 190 km Sothwest of Windhoek and 210 km Southeast of Walvis Bay. Besides activities like relaxing and enjoying the beautiful landscape, there are also three marked hiking trails. One of these trails will guide you to the cache. You can get information about the walking trails at the reception or on the website of the farm.

The “Leopard Trail” will guide you through a beautiful rivier. The cache will provide some interesting information about the flora along the trail. The cache will lead you through six stages to the final location. You only have to follow the hiking trail and note the information on the identification plates.

Station 1: Go to S 23 24.582 E 016 03.725. Make a note of the fifth letter of the second word. Alternative: If you miss the sign you can also note the fifth letter of the second word at S 23 25.008 E 016 03.871 = A

Station 2: Go to S 23 24.666 E 016 03.756. Make a note of the first letter of the species name in Afrikaans (third word). Alternative: If you miss the sign you can also note the first letter of the species name in Afrikaans at S 23 25.010 E 016 03.858 = B

Station 3: Go to S 23 24.847 E 016 03.931. Make a note of the eighth letter of the second word. Alternative: If you miss the sign you can also note the eighth letter of the second name at S 23 24.998 E 016 03.915 = C

Station 4: Go to S 23 24.946 E 016 03.902. Make a note of the fourth letter of the second word. Alternative: If you miss the sign you can also note the fifth letter of the species name in Afrikaans at S 23 25.172 E 016 03.793 = E

Station 5: Go to S 23 25.063 E 016 03.847. Make a note of the fourth letter of the species name in Afrikaans (third word) = D

Station 6: Go to S 23 25.348 E 016 03.773. Make a note of the fourth letter of the first word = F

Final: You can find the final at S 23 25.AB(C+1), E 016 03.D(E+2)(F-18).

Note: Especially during summer temperatures rise up to 40°C and there will be almost no shade on the trail. Therefore take enough water with you and pay attention to sufficient sun protection and good footwear. As I'm not in Namibia year-round the farm owners as well as my friend and collegs will take care of the cache.
