Con la sua navata rettangolare e l'abside semicircolare, il piccolo edificio corrisponde alla tipologia rurale delle chiese romaniche nei Grigioni. Non si esclude tuttavia che la data di costruzione possa risalire agli albori del Medioevo. Nella sua forma attuale è in ogni caso l'edificio sacro più antico della valle. La sua ubicazione periferica sul versante occidentale si spiega verosimilmente con il passaggio di una mulattiera, che di qui anticamente saliva al passo del Bernina.

Mit seinem rechteckigen Schiff und dem eingezogenen halbrunden Chor entspricht der kleine Bau für romanische Landkirche in Graubünden üblichen Typus - eine Erbauungszeit im Frühmittelalter ist jedoch nicht ausgeschlossen. In ihrer heutigen Gestalt ist sie jedenfalls der älteste Sakralbau des Puschlavs. Ihre abgeschiedene Lage am westlichen Teilhang erklärt sich möglicherweise durch einen ehemals hier vorbeiführenden Saumweg zum Berninapass.

With its rectangular nave and the retracted semi-circular choir the small construction corresponds to the common type of roman rural churches in the Grisons-still it cannot be excluded that the building was constructed in the early Middle Ages. In its present form it is the oldest religious building of Valposchiavo in any case. Its remote position on the western slope can possibly be explained with a former mule-track that passed by here and lead to Bernina Pass.
