Geocache Description:

This is a traditional cache.

The cache is located on the road to Langley Lower Green and is a clip box which started off containing several swops, log book and pen and a TB. Parking is nearby and it is easily a cache and dash. Just watch where you are treading as people walk their dogs along the grass at the front.

Situated on the south/east corner of Sheepcote Green is a Well, which at one time was communal serving the local houses in the hamlet.  The water-raising mechanism is a 19
th century cast iron force hand pump with fly wheel which has double curved spokes on the front.  The Well is recorded as a “Public well ..... about 370 ft. above ordnance datum, water level at about 244 ft., shaft 135 ft. Bored 20ft.”  The well is of unknown date but must be deep due to the use of a force pump.

When our kids were young they were fascinated with our local Well and to see how deep it was they would drop a length of rope with a rock tied to the end to measure the depth.

Thanks for visiting and good luck.
