This cache is not at the posted coordinates but is within two miles.

The American Horologe Company, later named Boston Watch Company, Appleton Tracy and Company, American Watch Company, American Waltham Watch Company, Waltham Watch Company, Waltham Watch and Clock Company and finally back Waltham Watch Company, was founded in 1850 by David Davis, Edward Howard and Aaron Lufkin Dennison. After construction in 1851, the name was changed to Boston Watch Company, and the first watches were completed in 1852. After bankruptcy in 1857, the company was sold and renamed Appleton Tracy and Company. After creating the 1st pocket watch produced in America of standard parts, the company merged with Waltham Improvement Co., changing its name to American Watch Company. The company had to downsize during the Civil War. Along with making watches, the company also created railroad chronometers and supplied them for 53 different countries.

After 26 years as the American Watch Company, the company changed its name to the American Waltham Watch Company, where it was most successful, selling the finest watches. After changing its name to Waltham Watch Company, Waltham Watch and Clock Company, then back to Waltham Watch Company, the company declared bankruptcy.

Some Famous Waltham Watches include one worn by David Scott on the moon and one worn by Abraham Lincoln during the Gettysburg Address.
