Geocache Description:

Sculptured

A Wherigo by BoxmanCrew

The Setting:

This Wherigo is designed to be played in downtown Holland Michigan. The area for the "game play" is bounded by 5th St. on the North, 12th St to the South, Lincoln on the East, and River Ave on the West.

Not familiar with Holland? Visit Holland.org and request or download a virtual visitors guide. There is lots of information about the community and interesting locations.

The Experience:

Holland is known for its Tulip Festival, but it has a very nice downtown area. That area has been enhanced by the placement of sculptures throughout the area. This Wherigo is designed to give you an opportunity to explore and experience a small portion of that artwork. Your mission is to locate nine particular sculptures. However, just finding the sculptures is not enough, you will need to look at them closely because you will be asked a question about the sculpture.

There are many other public works of art in the community. Take a walk down to Pine Avenue between 6th and 8th St and check out some of the sculpture by Stuart Padnos.

This wherigo is probably best played on foot or on a bicycle since finding a place to park by each of the sculptures is likely to be a pain. During the spring and summer months every zone in this wherigo should be wheelchair accessible.

Once you complete the cartridge, you will be given the coordinates to the geocache. After finding the container, you will be able to log this Wherigo geocache.

Is logging my result any different for this cache?

Logging your results here on geocaching.com is no different than any other cache so no changes there. However, you get a new icon on your profile page.
Unlocking the cartridge on Wherigo.com is not required, but it would be greatly appreciated. After you've completed the cartridge you should see a "Sculptured.gws" file on your device. On your Garmin Colorado or Oregon  you will find it in the Wherigo/Saves directory. Upload that file to the Wherigo website. An alternative method is also available to you. After you finish the required tasks you will be given a completion code. You may enter that as code instead of uploading the save file. (Note: there have been issues reported with this method. You may have to delete the last character of the completion code) You may also review the cartridge by  choosing Write a Log.

Acknowledgments:

Special thanks to Bretina, Tom_Kat, GVSU4MSU, and AddHam for providing me examples and coaching me as I wrote this Wherigo.

FTF Prize is a piece of artwork created by one of the sculptors introduced during the game play.
