Glenorchy is the gateway to Paradise and the jumping off point to the Routeburn track and the South West New Zealand World Heritage area. The small town has a few cafes and shops, a small general store, a country pub and accommodation. Drive down to the harbour and you will see the frequently photographed Glenorchy wharf shed. The shed was rebuilt in November 1999 after floods damaged the original building. The shed was originally built for the New Zealand Railways Department as a goods shed for freight carried on the steamers between Queenstown and Glenorchy. As the steamers were owned by NZ Railways, Glenorchy was officially a railway station and the rails that run from the end of the wharf to the shed were the shortest piece of railway in New Zealand.
The cache is a small grey painted sistema container hidden out of sight. Take care as there are often muggles in this area but it should be possible to retrieve the cache without too much attention. Please replace the cache carefully out of sight. There is room for small swaps.
