Geocache Description:

Atop the picturesque Scotland Island at a small secluded picnic area.

Access to the island is by boat or ferry and a steepish walk (on road/path) up to the GZ from the harbour.

We discovered this place in 2011 when we stayed overnight on the island and thoroughly explored. Scotland Island is an island suburb located in Pittwater. Many people live on the island and commute to the mainland. Real estate is actually quite affordable (unless it's waterside) and there are many rental properties. It's a densely wooded place and consequently it has it's own fire engine and fire boat - with no fire breaks the whole place could go up in smoke if there was a fire.

Access is easy if you have your own boat or kayak. There are several wharves, but the largest is Tennis Wharf (listed in waypoints). Otherwise you can take the ferry (visit link) which leaves from the listed waypoint. Coming on the ferry and exploring the island is a wonderful day out with breathtaking views of Pittwater.

The cache is at the highest elevation on the island. It is reachable along the "road" from two directions. No bush bashing required.

The cache itself is a camo'd Bison with just a log.
