Geocache Description:

"Organ Saint: By definition a person so enamoured of the harsh beauty of the Organs that, far from minding the length of the approaches and the hostility of the terrain, he actually lies down with the cholla and blesses the rattlesnakes."
-Dick Ingraham

This cache is part of a series dedicated to those Organ Saints. Each cache displays some quality which typifies an Organ Saint. By finding all caches of the series and recording the codes found in each one, you will be able to unlock the location of the final and join the ranks of the saintly.

The highest point of the impressive Organ Mountain needles is the on the far southern tip of the range, right at the boundary of Fort Bliss military reservation. This high point peeks over 9,000ft and lures hikers and climbers like a moth to light. Indeed, a trip up this peak is a must for any serious hiker passing through the area. It is also one of the few peaks in this range with a fairly well-known trail up to its summit. Because of this trail, the Organ Needle is probably the most frequented peak of the whole chain.

Rites of Passage
Traveling and learning the Organ Needle trail is a Rite of Passage for the Organ Saint. Not only does it provide a glimpse of how to get into the high peaks, and all the adventures that can be had up there, it is also extremely useful information for the Organ Saint to have. Knowing this key trail will provide access points for other peaks, and also emergency bail possibilities should an adventure require one. But more than the route beta, there is a spiritual nature to ascending this peak. Finding oneself on the high-point of this rugged chain is a time for reflection and wonderment. The Organ Saint recognizes this and no doubt meditates on the wonder of it all while gazing out on the rocks below.

The Cache
NO HINTS ARE AT THE POSTED COORDINATES, THERE IS NO NEED TO GO THERE. Finding this cache requires hiking the entire Organ Needle Trail. I've made this easier (and more enticing to geocachers) by placing geocaches at each of the major landmarks along the route. The first of the series is at Yellow Rocks. The Yellow Rocks can be reached via fillmore Canyon, or via Modoc Mine road. On the lid of the Yellow Rocks cache are the coordinates for the next cache up on the Organ Needle trail. Each successive cache contains coordinates for the next and in this manner you will pass by the Grey Emminence, Juniper Saddle and Dark Canyon which contains the final coordinates for this cache. There is already a cache on top of the Organ Needle summit, so this cache is placed in the maple groves east of Hummingbird saddle, in a location overlooking the Missile range below.
