Vous vous trouvez sur une petite place triangulaire
médiévale rescapée de la destruction qui permit,
au début du siècle dernier, la construction du quartier
de la préfecture.
A l'origine, s'y
trouvait un "andeix", construction de forme triangulaire couvrant une
fontaine où se tenait aussi un marché aux légumes.
Cette fontaine, ressemblant plutôt à un puits, avait la
particularité de se trouver au niveau du sol et était
protégée par des barres de fer d'où son nom de
Fontaine barrée ou Fontaine des barres. Elle a été
comblée et remplacée par une pyramide en 1615.

La place est entourée d'hôtels particuliers des XVIIe et
XVIIIe siècles. On y trouve, au N° 11 de la rue des Filles
de Notre-Dame, un beau portail, seul vestige de l'ancien couvent des
Filles de Notre-Dame.
Un enfant célèbre a bien connu cette place puisqu'il
habitait dans une rue toute proche : la rue des Combes. Son
père, Joseph Ginzburg, pianiste de talent, rencontre Pierre
Guyot, violoniste et chef d'orchestre
limougeaud.
Il décide d'installer sa famille à Limoges en
1943, face au danger que représente la vie à Paris pour
une famille juive.
Lucien Ginzburg, L'enfant en question, passera son adolescence dans le
quartier mais l'insécurité grandit et il est
envoyé à Saint Léonard de Noblat et
scolarisé sous le nom francisé de Guimbard. Ses parents
se réfugient à St Cyr alors qu'à 20 km de
là aura lieu, peu de temps après, le massacre d'Oradour
sur Glane .
Serge
Gainsbourg, alias Gainsbar, gardera semble-t-il de très mauvais
souvenirs de son passage en Limousin au point de renier ses
connaissances de l'époque.

Pour
vous rendre à la cache, vous passerez devant l'Opéra de Limoges,
autrefois appelé Grand
Théatre, qui a remplacé le Cirque Municipal
détruit en 1958. Il ne reste de cet édifice que 6 toiles
sur les 21 peintes en 1924 par David-Ossipovitch Widhopff pour sa
décoration et conservées au Musée des Beaux Arts de Limoges.
En
raison de la règle des 161 m, la cache est un peu éloignée.
Soyez discrets pour que la cache vive longtemps car l'endroit est très
fréquenté par les moldus !

You
are
on a small medieval triangular square surviving of the destruction
