About Superfund
Years ago, people were less aware of how dumping chemical wastes might affect public health and the environment. On thousands of properties where such practices were intensive or continuous, the result was uncontrolled or abandoned hazardous waste sites, such as abandoned warehouses and landfills. Citizen concern over the extent of this problem led Congress to establish the Superfund Program in 1980 to locate, investigate, and clean up the worst sites nationwide. The EPA administers the Superfund program in cooperation with individual states and tribal governments. The office that oversees management of the program is the Office of Emergency and Remedial Response (OERR).

TO SCORE A LOG:
1) Use the above EPA website (or the links found below) to identify a Superfund Site (current or archived).
2) Take a photo of the Superfund site. Try to capture photos of anything relevant that remains, e.g. a company sign, a large barbed-wire gate, biohazard warning signs, etc..
3) Take a photo of your GPS screen.
4) Log your EPA ID Number, photos and type out the Lat/Long's (so I don't have to decypher from your photo).
5) A simple explanation of why you chose your site would be of interest (atleast to me). I'd like your thoughts about the site.
I'll attempt to verify approximate location to prevent cheaters. (log will be deleted if info doesn't jive.)
As you may quickly find out, many Superfund sites are on private, well guarded property. You do not need to get any closer than publically allowable, "Nearby" is close enough! You shouldn't get very close to any of these sites anyhow, it wouldn't be prudent.
