Geocache Description:

On the marker from Valréas, when, neck Venterol it switches to the basin Nyons. Lofty tower, with gaping holes, three floors still visible, the dungeon is a three-castrums Venterol Novezan. It is part of the history and landscape venterolais. For local memory, it is still the tower or tower Hannibal Saracen. The name of Château-Ratier is mentioned in the inventory of the Dolphins in 1284. In the twelfth century the castle belonged to Montauban (it marked the eastern limit of Baronnies) In 1283 he passed to the Hospitallers of St. John of Jerusalem who become co-lords Venterol. It is usually the site was abandoned around 1430.
