Native to Southeast Asia, the Giant Asian Pond Turtle has a deep history with Buddhist monks in Bangkok who believe this species has a positive effect on the outcome of their afterlife! This semi-aquatic species has webbed feet, making them excellent swimmers who need nice deep water for swimming.
Their pale orange heads are marked with faint black spots and typically have a grey-brown carapace with a serrated rear edge. Giant Asian Pond Turtles are omnivorous that really enjoy munching on water plants, fruits, small invertebrates and our turtle pellets. In their natural habitats, Giant Asian Pond turtles thrive in rivers, streams, lakes and swamps. It’s important that the habitat you create mimic their natural habitats as much as possible.
