For those that are not ready to take on the “Headquarters Romp,” I present the “Quartz Mountain Stroll.”
This is a series of 12 caches that runs along the walking trail from near the Quartz Mountain State Park headquarters to Highway 44. There are parking areas at both ends of the trail, near caches #1 and #12. The path is paved the whole way and almost 2 miles from end to end. There are benches beside the trail if you need a rest along the way.
The caches along the trail are all micros hidden just off the path. They are tucked away enough to prevent muggles from finding them but easy enough that cachers should be able to get an easy find. Make sure that you do put them back carefully. We don’t want them walking off. The final cache is a small lock-n-lock hidden not too far from the bench and the end of the trail. There should be room for a coin or a travel bug in the last cache.
Take your time as you stroll past some beautiful views. With any luck you will see deer, squirrels, rabbits and other animals along the way. Bird sightings are a given here. If you would like to know more about the flora and fauna of the park, stop by the Nature Center just up the road from cache #1.
Congratulation to 2Moore on the FTF.
