Geocache Description:

Three gods were enshrined inHiraokano Shinto shrine. They are Izanaminomikoto, Ooyamakuinokami, and Ookuninushinomikoto. The shrine had been established in 793 by Taihan, who was Shingon Buddhist monk and was ordered to build the shrine by the emperor.

After that, the shrine was torn by wars after 1183. In 1319, Shogun Takauji Ashikaga dedicated the picture of Ragaraja (called Aizenmyouou-zue-touba) and invoked there. The weeping cherry trees are blooming every spring in beautiful way. Please bring your pen. 平岡野神社の祭神は伊弉冉尊（いざなみのみこと）、大山咋神（おおやまくいのかみ）、大国主尊（おおくにぬしのみこと）、の三柱です。「山王社略記」には７９３年に泰範上人が勅を給わり建立され、当時七堂伽藍が雲上にそびえ、美を極めたと記されていますが、やがて神社のある平岡野小木立は「大日本史」や「源平盛衰記」に出てくる戦場の地となって、１１８３年（寿永二年）より数度の兵火を受けてはなはだしく荒廃したそうです。その後加賀の国主富樫氏が累代崇拝し１３１９年（元応元年）足利高氏（尊氏）が愛染明王(Ragaraja)図絵塔婆を奉納して息災延命、武運長久を祈願したと言われています。しだれ桜がきれいです。筆記具を持参ください。
