The Piraeus Lion is a replica of the sculpture that stood at the entrance of the port of Piraeus until 1687.
Due to the dominating presence of the monument, the city of Piraeus was also called Porto Leone.
Today, the original sculpture is located in Venice's naval base after it was grabbed by the Venetian Admiral Francesco Morosini (later he became Doge of Venice), as a loot.

The Cache
The cache is located near the statue.
Next to the statue there is a cafeteria that is usually open, where you can sit and watch the movement of ships in the port of Piraeus.
The cache is a small magnetic round canister containing logbook for name and date only.
Do not forget to bring a pen with you!
It also contains a small FTF present for the lucky geocacher who will find the cache first!
Please be very careful when searching for the cache the area is full of muggles

Το Λιοντάρι του Πειραιά είναι ένα αντίγραφο του γλυπτού το οποίο βρισκόταν στην είσοδο του λιμανιού του Πειραιά μέχρι το 1687.
Λόγω της επιβλητικής παρουσίας του μνημείου, η πόλη του Πειραιά ονομαζόταν και Porto Leone.
Σήμερα το αυθεντικό γλυπτό βρίσκεται στο ναύσταθμο της Βενετίας ύστερα από την αρπαγή του ως λάφυρο από τον ναύαρχο Μοροζίνη.

Η κρύπτη
Η κρύπτη βρίσκεται κοντά το άγαλμα.
Δίπλα από το άγαλμα συνήθως λειτουργεί καφετέρια όπου μπορείτε να καθίσετε και να βλέπετε την κίνηση των πλοίων στο λιμάνι του Πειραιά
Η κρύπτη είναι ένα μικρό μαγνητικό κυλινδρικό δοχείο που περιέχει log αρχείο για όνομα και ημερομηνία μόνο.
Μη ξεχάσετε να φέρετε τον στυλό σας.
Επίσης περιέχει ένα πολύ μικρό FTF δώρο.
Προσοχή όταν ψάχνετε την κρύπτη η περιοχή είναι γεμάτη από muggles.
