Geocache Description:

Summary
The third wave of the Blackrock Power Trail heads from the West Pier of Dun Laoghaire Harbour south-east for 2km to Sandycove Beach. Cache 19 is near the old Dun Laoghaire baths.

The Blackrock Power Trail Series (BRPT)
The series started its life in Idrone Terrace on Dublin Bay behind Blackrock Village and has now spread both north-west and south-east from the original Cache.  Caches range from an easy 1/1 D/T through to the hardest being a 3/4.

The rules of Geocaching are such that no cache can be within 160 metres (0.1 miles or 528 feet) of another cache... so you will find that the caches in this series are generally about 200 metres apart from each other.  There are also some other caches along the route that you may want to pick up as you go.

The Cache
The 19th cache in the BRPT series takes you up-close and personal with the old Dun Laoghaire baths.  The cache is hidden towards the bottom of a rock staircase which leads down to a really intriguing rock wall - with lots of ledges and crevices.  When I first came across this rock wall 2 years ago I thought to myself: “What a great place to hide a cache!”  And 2 short years later… BRPT#19 was born.  Most cachers should like this one.
Storm damage caused the closure of these steps for some time and the cache was moved to the steps immediately to the north of these co-ordinates. The steps have since re-opened, but with very few locations to hide a cache I've decided to leave it in its new location.
