Bedgebury National Pinetum and Forest is located just off of the A21 at Flimwell in E.Sussex.
The Forest offers a fantastic recreation facility for those who love to be outdoors and there are trails for Horse riding, Walking, Running, Family cycling, mountain biking or just walking the dog. There are several adventure playgrounds on site for the young and not so young.
The Visitor Centre offers a cafe, toilets, showers and an information point. Parking is £10.00 per day per car giving free entry to the Forest and Pinetum. The post code is TN17 2SJ. Please contact the Forestry Commission for car park opening times which vary during the year.
All of the caches set in the forest are close to trails so you must be alert to muggles, who can appear quickly on bikes. Please be aware!
The caches were set in the winter with little tree cover from deciduous trees so please bear this in mind with GPS co-ordinates, some co-ordinates fluctuate wildly with the tree cover. Most of the cache titles give a clue.
Please ensure that you take all of your litter away with you and respect the codes of the forest. Keep to the left on trails. Do not attempt to walk the Mountain bike routes, they are clearly marked, there are no geocaches on them and it is dangerous. Walking boots/wellies are advisable in wet weather.
The terrain difficulty reflects the large area that the geocaches cover and they are generally close to the road stone trails. I am reasonably cycle- fit and used my mountain bike with slick tyres with no problem. There are some fairly steep slopes in places. No climbing is involved.
I have seen plenty of parents with modern type stroller pushchairs over the forest so I assume they will be ok on the hard packed trails. I do not think that the terrain is suitable for wheelchair users but stand to be corrected.
At some point, on Premium caches, you may need a strong magnet of no more than 25mm diameter on a length of string and a 750ml bottle of water. Writing implements will be required on some of the caches.
The Cache is placed with the kind permission of the Forestry Commission.
