In the late 60's, snowmobiling was all the rage! In the early 70's, Kiekaefer-Mercury started producing sleds. As a result, they decided to construct a snowmobile racetrack. When you hit GZ, you will be INSIDE the oval track!
You may not notice the track design, as it has reverted back to prairie and native flora, but if you happen to look at the Google Map feature on the cache page, you can easily see the course on the 'satellite' view of the area. You can also find old power boxes and conduits on the east edge of the property.
The track was banked around the entire course so you may notice it on your walk to the east, as the horse riding trail follows the upslope.
If anyone has memories of the snowmobile races that were held here, please share them!
