Geocache Description:

As part of their 100th anniversary celebration, Girl Scouts and Groundspeak have introduced a new Geocacher badge program. Girl Scouts of all ages will love taking part in this high-tech treasure hunt for outdoor adventure and fun opportunities for service!  Daisy Troop 70973 has placed this cache with permission of the Cleveland Metroparks in the beautiful North Chagrin Reservation.

On March 12, 1912, Juliette "Daisy" Gordon Low assembled 18 girls from Savannah, Georgia, for a local Girl Scout meeting. She believed that all girls should be given the opportunity to develop physically, mentally, and spiritually. With the goal of bringing girls out of isolated home environments and into community service and the open air, Girl Scouts hiked, played basketball, went on camping trips, learned how to tell time by the stars, and studied first aid.

Girl Scout Daisy is the initial level of Girl Scouting. Named for Juliette, "Daisy" Gordon Low, GS Daisies are in kindergarten and first grade (around ages 5–7). They typically meet in groups of ten girls with two adult leaders who help the girls plan activities to introduce them to Girl Scouts. GS Daisies earn the Promise Center and Petals, which focus on the Girl Scout Law and are placed on the front of their uniforms in a daisy design.

This cache is placed near the mowed area at the Squires Castle ball field. Please respect the fragile nature of the environment by staying on the trails. Enjoy the wildlife, but refrain from collecting anything but trash. You are looking for a small size lock-n-lock container filled will lots of family friendly swag including a "First to Find" geocoin for the lucky first visitor.  Remember to trade fairly and return the cache to its original location.

UPDATE 6/22/2013: Daisy Troop 70973 had its "Crossing Over" ceremony and is now Brownie Troop 70973. This cache page and profile has been updated.
