In 2003 the bushfires closed the Cotter Dam area for 8 years! Then it was reopened - better than ever, and the Cotter Comeback cache was born! But then came the drought! And the Cotter was closed again! This time to build a bigger dam! That too is complete - so all is well!
The Cotter is one of the favourite BBQ/Picnic areas for Canberrans, and luckily the large deciduous trees in the area managed to survive the fires! There's BBQs, picnic tables, toilets, a new bridge, and even a snazzy playground. So come an enjoy a picnic or BBQ and find a cache while you are there!
