Geocache Description:

Greater Charlotte Geocaching Club

SunshineGate, if you haven't already figured out, is a cache collaboration of HoosierSunshine and StargateKrewe.

This cache came into existence completely by chance, serendipity, if you will. Never having met or even really crossed paths, we both had heard there were some caches up for adoption and contacted the cache owner of several caches in the park. When we arrived at the cache site to meet the CO and check out the caches were were going to take over, we were introduced to one another and learned that we both had the same idea! Very cool indeed. Great minds absolutely think alike. We all spent the morning going from cache to cache in the park and even blazed some new trails. It was tons of fun, as group caching usually is. It's because of cache adoptions, spontaneous cacher run-ins and teamwork that we came up with the idea for this cache. So we dedicate this cache to serendipity, teamwork, and caching with friends.

Our cache brings you to the wonderful Renaissance Park in Mecklenburg County. This park features soccer fields, baseball fields, sand volleyball, tennis courts, and disc golf. There is also a very well maintained mountain bike/walking trail.

You will start off on this trail and then have to bushwhack the last 150-250 feet, with perhaps a fairly steep creek bed crossing, depending on your approach(if you stay near the cemetery, the crossing will be minimal). Parking and Trailhead waypoints are listed.

Park hours are usually sunrise to sunset. No night caching.

As part of the theme, cachers are encouraged to tackle this cache and really any in the park as part of a group. But teamwork is not required to find or log this cache and it can easily be completed solo.

A big thanks to FailedApparatus for the background graphic work.
