Geocache Description:

Mandrin, the bandit smuggler, crossing Chabreloche October 10, 1754, during his fifth campaign, traveling from Roanne to Thiers.

A story well beloved of the people of Chabreloche said that Mandrin would have stopped to eat at the village. The landlord would have suggested the goat (in dialect chabre) and goose (the oche in dialect). Chuck chooses chabre and oche. And the village was named it.

The Latinists much less fun in their assumptions, say the name means fertile fields.
