Persley Bridge Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

MikeLeFish: Following a more recent and more detailed inspection of the cache site prior to replacing it, I have instead decided to archive it. This is due largely to my having found several used syringes in the area. Whilst I quite liked that particular hiding spot, I have no desire to chance putting fellow cachers at risk.

Now pondering alternatives nearby...

Geocache Description:

A traditional cache located on the banks of the Don, perfect for starting (or finishing) a walk along the river.

Persley Bridge is one of only two main crossings over the River Don in Aberdeen. It leads from Danestone to the Haudagain roundabout and Mugiemoss road, both notorious traffic bottlenecks. It is not unusual during "rush hour" to be able to walk across the bridge much faster than the traffic!

There are many remnants of old water-driven mills along the banks of the Don in this area, and looking upstream from the bridge on the left-hand bank can be seen an abandoned pump house that once pushed water up to the Twin Spires Creamery. Also visible from here is the very scenic Persley Water Treatment facility!

Cache is a 400ml click-lock container with space for geocoins and small trackables. There is an (inevitable? ) badge for FTF :)

Note: NOT recommended after heavy rainfall unless you are very sure-footed!
