Nastolan kirkko rakennettiin vuosina 1802 - 1804. Puisen ristikirkon rakensi ruoveteläinen kirkonrakentaja Matias Åkergen. Kirkko tehtiin Askolan kirkkoa varten Tukholman intendenttivirastossa laadittujen piirustusten mukaan. Kirkkosaliin mahtuu noin 700 henkeä.
Kirkko sai nykyisen muotonsa vuoden 1935 korjaustöiden yhteydessä. Muutostyöt suunnitteli Juhani Viiste. Kirkon torni nostettiin muutostöiden yhteydessä. Kirkko saneerattiin täydellisesti vv. 2000 - 2001.

Muodoltaan kirkko on ollut alunperin tasavartinen ja sisäviisteinen ristikirkko. Kirkossa on urkuparvi.
Vanha hautausmaa, jonka yhteydessä sijaitsee myös sankarihautausmaa, samoin kuin aiemman kirkon paikka, sijaitsee kirkon koillispuolella. Tällä paikalla on ollut kirkko 1600-luvun alkupuolelta lähtien nykyisen kirkon rakentamiseen saakka.
Läheisyydestä löytyy myös vanha Nastolan kotiseutumuseo. Rakennukset ovat tallella, mutta itse museo ei ole enää käytössä.
Läheisyydessä järven rannalta löytyy myös Nastolan taidekeskus Taarasti, mikä on myös arkkitehtoorisesti katsomisen arvoinen.
Kätkön läheisyydessä liikkuu paljon ihmisiä, joten jästivaara on ilmeinen.
