Z- Breithorn
Das Breithorn ist ein mehrgipfliger, stark vergletscherter Bergkamm. Der Westgipfel, 4164 m.ü.M., ist der höchste, aber auch der am einfachsten zu besteigende Gipfel des Breithorns. Über das Breithorn verläuft die Grenze zwischen dem Wallis und der Autonomen Region Aosta. Den Namen erhielt das Breithorn durch den Domherrn Josef Anton Berchtold wegen der erstaunlichen Breite, die der Berg aufweist. Die Erstbesteigung des Westgipfels erfolgte am 13. August 1813 durch Henry Maynard, Joseph-Marie Couttet, Jean-Baptiste Erin, Jean-Jacques Erin und Jean Gras.
Die Klimaveränderung hinterlässt auch am Breithorn ihre Spuren: an der Süd-Westflanke zum Westgipfel ist inzwischen die Eisschicht einiger weniger Felspartien geschmolzen – und bietet somit die Möglichkeit für das Verstecken eines Caches!
Zum Cache:
· Der Cache ist gut erreichbar von der Normalroute ab Klein Matterhorn zum Westgipfel. Er befindet sich in den Felsen in einer Distanz von rund 12 Meter oberhalb der Route, auf einer Höhe von 4044 m.ü.M.

· Zum Cache muss ein Gletscher begangen werden. Deshalb nur mit entsprechender Ausrüstung auf die Suche gehen.

The Breithorn is a mountain crest with multiple peaks and a large number of glaciers. The western summit, 4164 m a.s.l., is the highest, but is also considered to be the easiest to climb. The border between Valais and the Autonomous Region of Aosta runs over the Breithorn.
The Breithorn received its name from the canon Josef Anton Berchtold due to the amazing breadth of the mountain. The western summit was first climbed on 13th August 1813 by Henry Maynard, Joseph-Marie Couttet, Jean-Baptiste Erin, Jean-Jacques Erin und Jean Gras.
The change in climate leaves its traces also at the Breithorn: on the south western slope to the west summit, the ice melted in the meantime on a few small parts of the rock – a good possibility to place a cache!
The Cache:
· The cache can be reached easily on the normal route from Klein Matterhorn to the west summit. It is placed in the rocks at a distance of approximately 12 meters above the route, at 4044 m a.s.l.

· To reach the cache, you have to cross a glacier. Therefore go only with an adequate equipment.
