Ciriša ezera Upursalā atrodas 17 m augstais Upurkalns. Leģenda vēstī,ka senos laikos uz salas dzīvojis pareģis jeb krīvs ar palīgiem. Grūtos brīžos vietējie latgaļi te ir upurējuši jaunas meitenes, vēlākos laikos mājlopus. Ja dūmi no upursārta nosvērušies uz Voguļu pusi, tad upuris pieņemts, ja uz Aglonas pusi – tad nē. Pat tad, kad Aglonā bija uzcelta baznīca, vakaros vietējie braukuši ar laivām uz salu upurēt dieviem.
Upursala kā tūrisma objekts bija pazīstama jau pagājušā gadsimta trīsdesmitajos gados. Cirišu ezera Upursala un Ošu sala kā dabas pieminekļi aizsargātas jau no 1931. gada, 2008.gadā Upursalā iekārtota dabas taka. Upuru salā atrodams šaurlapu lakacis (Pulmonaria angustifolia), kas atrodas valsts aizsardzībā.
Vienkāršākais veids, kā nokļūt uz salas, ir izmantot laivu. Ja tev nav līdzi sava laiva, vari mēģināt to paņemt nomā Aglonas Cakulos vai atpūtas vietā Cirišs (tālr.26123809).
Sākotnēji uz šīs salas bijām domājuši tikai izvietot punktu multislēpnim, bet izgājuši dabas taku, izlēmām, ka tā ir pati sava atsevišķa slēpņa cienīga.
Slēpnī atrodama vērtība, kas noderēs 1936.gada ekskursijas meklēšanā - lūdzu, nedzē to no konteinera ārā!

"Laivu nomas": Latgalē, meklējot laivu, ko paņemt nomā, bieži saskarsies ar iespēju nomā paņemt dzelzs laivu tautā sauktu par "душегубкy", tās ir padomju ražojuma laivas, kas ir ļoti nedrošas ekspluatācijā. Neliels ūdens daudzums laivā, un laiva ļoti ātri "noiet pa burbuli" (skat.
attēlu ar laivu). Saudzē sevi un savu veselību! Ja nākas ar šādu laivu braukt, izmanto glābšanas vestes, rūpējies par savu drošību, labāk nebrauc, kad ezers ir nemierīgs.
On the Sacrificial island of lake Ciritis there is a 17m high hill called the Sacrificial hill. According to legend, in ancient times a fortune teller lived on this island. During hardship local people sacrificed maidens there, in later times - domestic animals. When the smoke from the sacrificial stake arose to the direction of Voguļi, it was believed that the sacrifice had been accepted by gods, if it arose in the direction of Aglona - then it had not been accepted. Even after a church had been built in Aglona, the locals went to the island at night to make sacrifices to their pagan gods.
As a tourist sight the Sacrificial island has been known at least since the 1930s. Both it and another island of the lake - Ošu island - are protected as natural monuments since 1931, in 2008 a nature trail was opened on Sacrificial island. The protected Pulmonaria angustifolia grows on the island.
The easiest way to reach the island is by taking a boat. Should you not have a boat of your own, you can try renting one in either the campground Aglonas Cakuli or another camping called Cirišs (phone number +371-26123809).
Initially we had planned to use this island just as a stage for a multicache, but after walking along the nature trail, we decided that this place is worth a cache of its own.
In the cache there is a value to the multicache The excursion from the year 1936 - please don't remove the piece of paper containing the number!

Regarding boat rental: in Latgale in many boat rentals you will encounter flat metallic boats which are colloquially known as "soul takers" - soviet built boats which are very unsafe in use and can drown with just a little water inside. You can see an example of such a boat in the
attached picture). Be careful! Should you take such a boat, remember to take a safety vest, guard your own safety, and better stay on shore when the lake is unresty.
