Geocache Description:

Ne pārāk zināma pastaigu vieta - veloceliņš Mārupītes krastos.

Not well known walkway - cycling track besides Mārupīte.

Mārupīte ir neliela upe, Daugavas kreisā pieteka Rīgā un Mārupes novadā. Sākas Medema purvā starp Stūnīšiem un Tīraini. Augštecē upes gultne iztaisnota un savāc apkārtējo purvu un polderu ūdeņus. Pie Petriņciema upe pagriežas uz austrumiem un pa izteiktu ieleju šķērso kāpu grēdu. Bieriņos upes krastā ierīkots Tēlnieku parks. Torņakalnā uz Mārupītes ierīkots Māras dīķis, izteka no kā tiek regulēta ar slūžām. Lejpus Māras dīķa ierīkoti Arkādijas dārzs un Uzvaras parks. Ietek Daugavā aiz Raņķa dambja Āgenskalna līcī. Kopējais Mārupītes garums ir 12 km.

Mārupīte is small river in Riga and Marupe county and flows into Daugava. Marupīte is started in Medema swamp between Stūrīši and Tīraine. Upper part of river is straighten and collects water from swamps and polders. Around Petriņciems river turns to east and crosses ridge of dunes. In Bieriņi at banks of river park of sculptures is located. In Torņakalns Mārupīte flows through Maras pond, Arkādijas and Uzvaras parks and finishing in Āgenskalna līcis in Daugava. Total length of Mārupīte is 12 km.
